Customs

Kandy Dancers and Drummers

After the wedding the bride changes out of her wedding dress and into a new outfit known as her 'going away' outfit, she wears this as the couple depart onto their honeymoon. The dress is formal, like a wedding dress, only a different style and colour. The groom also changes into a different suit.

Before leaving for their honeymoon the couple pay respect to their family members. This part of the ceremony is highly emotional as it is said to symbolise the couple leaving their families to embark on married life together.
