 Grand Bay - The first part of the island to experience tourists it is well known for its busy nightlife, shopping and leisure facilities as well as La Cuvette beach. This location has everything to offer for a brilliant wedding get away.

 The Triolet Shivala -The longest village on the island Triolet offers the experience of visiting a Hindu temple first built in 1819.

 Balaclava Ruins - In these historic ruins of the old Balaclava estate visitors can still see the initial foundations of the sea walls. This location would add a historic edge to your wedding.

 Pereybère - This beautiful public beach is known for its restaurants, pubs and shopping facilities.

Mauritian Wedding Service

In order to get married in Mauritius you must first have a civil ceremony. After this you can have a religious wedding in a place of worship of any faith. Weddings can we performed Monday-Friday but not during the 40 days of Lent.

The requirements of the Catholic Church in Mauritius are:

  • For a civil wedding the couple must have resided in Mauritius for 24 hours before the ceremony takes place
  • Original birth certificate and valid passport with three free pages are required
  • Certificate from your home town hall declaring you are not already married
  • An authorisation letter from your local priest testifying your request to get married in Mauritius
  • A copy of the civil wedding certificate performed before the religious ceremony. You can choose to have your civil wedding either in Mauritius or the UK.
  • Certificate of confirmation (baptism) from your local priest at home
  • Decree Absolute (if applicable)
  • Deed poll (if applicable)
  • Death Certificate and previous marriage certificate (if widow/widower)
  • At least one visit to the church is required

The above documents should be sent out 5 weeks before you plan to get married. The Mauritius Catholic Diocese will contact you once they receive the documents.
