- The Mayan architecture and palatial ruins are must-sees for their beauty alone - they are rivalled by nothing in Western culture. Visit the Yucatan Peninsula where you can also venture into the caves.
- The old colonial cities that have remained largely untouched. Guanajuato is a World Heritage Site and has been described as the jewel in the crown of Mexico, with its pastel-coloured buildings and imposing cathedral.

- Walk along the coast and sample the freshest fish in the beach side restaurants
- Scuba dive, swim with dolphins and whale-watch
- Rent a motorboat and explore the rivers and coast. Some tour groups offer group motorboat excursions.

- Hike into the jungle and marvel at the waterfalls and wildlife there
