The Caribbean is perhaps the most laid-back resort in the entire world. Days melt into each other, you could walk along the beach and not see civilization for miles, and the most popular past time is kicking back with a cocktail.
With a wealth of islands to choose from, there is something for every couple on their honeymoon.
The Islands
The Caribbean islands are aesthetically similar with their white and turquoise beaches, colourful towns and luxury accommodation. But each island offers its own characteristics, making the Caribbean a beautiful place to honeymoon wherever you stay.

Accommodation
Honeymooning in the Caribbean is not a low-budget affair and the hotels are usually all inclusive. They range from 3 to 5 star beach resorts, and there will sometimes be cheaper accommodation if you venture inland into the towns. However, you get what you pay for in the Caribbean and if you are paying a lot, you will get the best. Some hotels will upgrade your room to a honeymoon suite on arrival for free, if they are available.
For a hotel with history, stay in an original plantation mansion with all the authentic features such as servants' quarters.
Things to do
If you think sunbathing is the only thing to do on your honeymoon, you'd be wrong!
- The dormant Sulphur Springs in St Lucia is the only drive-in volcano in the world. The springs bubble and steam violently - you may want to hold your nose because they do not smell pleasant! Not extremely romantic, but very interesting
- Spot shipwrecks and marine life on a submarine tour of the Aruba ocean 120 feet below sea level
- The lime caves of Barbados. An open train will take you deep into the caves where you can see crystallised stalagmites and stalactites (remember 'tights' dangle from the ceiling and 'mites' are on the ground)
- The original 'Pirates of the Caribbean' - there is a pirate museum in the Bahamas with a replica pirate ship. All aboard!
- The Grenada Chocolate Company is housed in a building that looks like Hansel and Gretel's cottage. You can smell it well before you see it. Watch how they make the chocolate using cocoa grown on the island and then buy it and devour!
