Civil Partnerships
Recent changes in the U.K law has meant that in the U.K both gay and lesbian couples have been legally able to carry out civil partnership ceremony. It has been estimated that within the first year there were around 10,000 same sex couples who had a civil partnership. With civil partnerships there is no requirement to have a ceremony, all that is required is to make an appointment at your registry office and sign the register.
What is the difference between a Civil Marriage and a Civil Partnership ?
The only difference between is that a civil partnership is registered when the second civil partner signs the relevant document, a civil marriage is registered when the couple exchange spoken words. - As stated it is not necessary to have a ceremony and The Civil Partnership Act does not provide a ceremony, just a signing of the register.
